About the Company

The work of Hilary Easton + Company has been often praised for its wit and smarts, exploring the surprise of the humorous and its poignant flip side. The company has been presented since 1992 at venues including American Dance Festival, The Danspace Project at St. Mark’s Church, Dance Theater Workshop, PS 122, The Center for Contemporary Arts of Santa Fe, Women and Their Work, The University of Texas, Bennington College, Central Park Summerstage, The Yard, and Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors. The Company’s The Short-Cut, was hailed by The New York Times as “visionary in its simple affirmation of the magic of art and the human spirit”, and by The Village Voice as “marvelous and deeply thoughtful.” 

Hilary Easton + Company’s recent engagements include performances at The Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church (May, 2008), the Kaatsbaan Center for Dance (March, 2007), Symphony Space (April, 2007), The Duke Theater (June, 2007), and the Mount Tremper Arts Festival (September, 2007). The company will open the 2009 92nd Street Y-Harkness Dance Festival at the Ailey Citigroup Theater February 18-22, 2008.

The company was the recipient of the Paul Taylor Fellowship, and has been honored with grants from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, The Mertz Gilmore Foundation, The Jerome Foundation, The Harkness Foundation for Dance, The Bossak-Heilbron Foundation, The Maxine Greene Foundation for Social Imagination, the Arts, and Education, Meet The Composer, and The Manhattan Community Arts Fund.
